Granite Rock

The Granite Belt

About the Granite Belt

The Granite Belt has been a Winter destination for Brisbane residents since early times.

Stanthorpe in Queensland, Australia, was quite an early settlement - tin was mined here. There is still some topaz here, if you are keen on prospecting!

The area offers stunning National Parks, cottage industries, farm fresh produce and quality wineries.

This is the home of the Strange Bird wines.

My favourite wineries:
Casley's Mt Hutton Winery, off Texas Rd
Ravens Croft Wines, off Texas Rd
Just Red Wines, Eukey Rd, Ballandean
Lucas Estate, Severnlea
Whiskey Gully Wines, Severnela

We are in a quaint country area, 1000 meters above sea level and the landscape is dominated by granite rock formations. It is a bit cooler here than on the coast. It is a beautiful area to visit any time of the year!

The area hosts a range of accommodation options - from five star cottages to a tent site by the river.
